Overview

Who is MusicWorx?

“Empowering Lives Through Music Therapy”

MusicWorx is a professional music therapy and wellness agency based in San Diego, providing clinical services, corporate wellness programs, and training for future music therapists.

Their mission: Healing, educating, and advocating through the power of music.

Problem

How might we redesign the MusicWorx logo to better reflect their professionalism, growth, and leadership in music therapy?

The current logo felt outdated and less aligned with their desired identity: one that is clean, professional, and representative of education and mentorship.

Our task: Modernize the logo while maintaining the integrity of their mission and values.

Research

What can we learn from our competitors and users?

Lo-fi sketches of potential logo designs, stars by the most favored iterations.

Competitive Analysis:
  • Reviewed visual identities of peer organizations in music therapy, wellness, and healthcare.

  • Noted trends in color usage, typography, and iconography.

User Survey:
  • Collected feedback on how users perceived the current logo and brand.

  • Key insights: users wanted a look that felt trustworthy, credible, and forward-thinking.

Ideation

What client feedback did we receive from our earliest iterations?

Lo-fi sketches of potential logo designs, stars by the most favored iterations.

Our logic: Sketch as many logos as possible and narrow down the ones that make the most sense. We would then present these to our client to gain feedback about whether the direction we were headed aligned with their concept and idea.

Challenges

Successes

Working on a tight 10-week sprint made it tough to balance deliverables and consistent progress

Maintained consistent communication with stakeholders and adapted as needed

Biweekly check-ins with stakeholders were super helpful for insights, but feedback on our style guide and logo redesign was often delayed

Built a strong foundation for MusicWorx’s rebranding, including a clear style guide and logo directions

As a result, we couldn’t fully complete the final logo handoff—we're still waiting on feedback for the latest iteration

Gained valuable experience navigating real-world client timelines and feedback loops
